“Illusion is the first of all pleasures.”

“I’m almost curious as to what your game is.”

The blond was watching her with that cocky, half-amused look that came with being a demon. She was really starting to get sick of those looks. She’d been getting them frequently over the past ten years from demons all over the world, and she hated them just as much as they ever did. They never changed at all, and it only seemed to remind her that her time was going to be up soon. It wasn’t going to be long before she was one of them, and most of the time she just wanted to shoot the look right off their faces and remind them that she wasn’t there yet.

And she didn’t want to die. But that wasn’t the point.

Ruby started to move closer to, circling her curiously. “Almost? I thought you liked having all the answers, Bel-la.” She said her name with a bit of an odd emphasis, almost as though she was leaning towards bella or beautiful, rather than just saying her name. Bela watched her move, her eyes following her carefully as she spoke.

“Sometimes ignorance truly is bliss,” Bela replied carefully. “It can get you into less trouble.”
